Know who to call

- If the Caregiver is not home
- Contact the Caregiver immediately
- Contact the emergency contact if the Caregiver is unavailable
- If a visit ends early
- Contact the Caregiver immediately
- Contact the emergency contact if the Caregiver is unavailable
- Contact the Agency Director who will contact the CA social worker (if needed)
- The Agency Director will file an Incident Report (if needed)
- If the parent abducts the child
- Call 911 immediately
- Contact the Agency Director who will contact the CA social worker
- Contact the Caregiver
- The Agency Director will file an Incident Report
- If a child gets hurt
- Call 911 if necessary
- Contact the Caregiver who will meet the ambulance at the hospital and provide medical coupons for the child’s care
- Contact the Agency Director who will provide appropriate support depending on the severity of the injury – especially if the child does not need emergency care.
- The Agency Director will file an Incident Report
- If a parent threatens a Visit Supervisor
- Call 911 immediately
- Inform the parent that they must depart or their arrest is imminent
- Contact the Agency Director who will contact the CA social worker
- The Agency Director will file an Incident Report
- If the Caregiver is not home
Know where you can go
- Develop an exit strategy
- Stay alert and identify the exits from the building
- Sit close to the door in order to quickly put distance between you and any potential conflict
- Sitting near the door will enable you to remove the child, close the door, and move to another room if necessary
- Contact the Agency Director and the Caregiver for next steps
- The Agency Director will file an Incident Report
